Looking for good cafes/restaurants to eat typical USA food in Dallas?

-Am visiting USA for first time soon, and will be a couple of days in Dallas, can anyone reccomend good cafes' or restaurants which serve "local" food? We have heaps of Asian food in Australia, so would like to try something a little more typical of what locals would eat. ThanksHard Rock Cafe is pretty much typical American food, Original Pancake House, Frank's Sports Bar, Dick's Last Resort (a personal fave of mine), Rainforest Cafe, they are all pretty much typical examples of American food. If you really want to know where the locals go, ask them, when you get there. I am not from Dallas, but I have been there several times.
Gators has good food and excellent drinks. The drinks are like alcoholic icees.
Norma's Cafe, Mama's Daughters Diner are good.
