What is the point of compulsory tipping?

-Why not include it in the price of the meal?Tipping is an oppurtunity for you to express how well you liked your service. If you tip the expected %20 (double the tax on the bill) than you were just satisfied. If you choose to tip more than that, then it sends amessage to your server that he/she did a great job. If you always tip well at a certain restaurant it will pay off. Your server will like you more and give you better service.



Often times when big parties of mabe 10 or more eat together their tip will be partially included in the bill. %10 "gratuity"
What's the point in working for an hour and a half, waiting on a table that takes up all the server's time, and tables, eating hundreds of dollars of food, to not get paid?



It's not included in the price for tax purposes. Don't you LIKE keeping a little money from going to the government?
They just want extra moolahh ;)
